1) How is a chimney cleaned and will it create a mess?

Fireplace cleaned from the bottom to the top and from the top back down insuring 100% of the system is cleaned including flue, smoke chamber and Firebox. During the cleaning process top of line HEPA filtration units are used to assure no particles are introduced into the air Including, most smells. Never will you see a Shop-Vac® or long hoses in your home. At Lucky Cricket Chimney Sweep we only use the SootSweeper I, a machine that has been keeping soot out of homes for over 35 years. Flooring and personal items are covered to guarantee resident’s items will remain safe from dirt or stains. We take pride in making sure that your items are kept clean and safe.
2) Do you inspect my fireplace when you clean it?
Yes! Keeping you safe is the most important part of a chimney sweep. Therefore, each fireplace goes through a full 20 point inspection insuring that everything is in good operating condition. Our inspections exceed Level 1 inspection as defined by the National Safety Institute of America (NSIA.) Not only do we check for things related directly with the fireplace such as the damper, flue and firebox, but also items such as the roof flashing, crown condition and fire extinguishers. It is our mission to make sure that all parts of your system are in good SAFE condition.
3) How long does it take to clean a fireplace?
Cleaning a fireplace takes anywhere from 30 minutes to about an hour.
4) How often do I need to clean my fireplace?
Living in Arizona this is probably the hardest question to answer. However, we recommend that your fireplace be cleaned or at least inspected ever 2 to 3 years, 50-100 fires or anytime you’re unsure.
5) What type of wood should I burn?
The truth is most wood is good to burn once it is well seasoned. However, with that said here are a few of my favorites:
- Mesquite
- Juniper
- Oak
- Pine for starting fires
- Pecan
6) What types of repairs do you do?
Lucky Cricket Chimney Sweep does all repairs necessary to bring your fireplace back to a well working code compliant system. Theses repairs include relining, damper installation, back wall rebuilding, and other masonry repairs, crown sealing and installing new or reinstalling disconnected factory built pipe. 7) Do you clean dryer vents?
Cleaning dryer vents well can be difficult and requires the right tools. At Lucky Cricket Chimney Sweep we have years of experience cleaning dryer vents and we only use the best cleaning systems on the market. Our system in powered and scrubs the entire duct system making the system look and perform like new when we are done.
8) My fireplace doesn’t draw well what could be wrong with it?
There are hundreds of reasons why that a fireplace might smoke (just ask my mom.) With years of experience there's a good chance that we can find your reason and fix it bringing your system back into great working shape.
9) Do you install top sealing gasket tight dampers
Yes! Installing a top seal damper requires more work than one might think. First in knowing what size to install, then there is the fitting of the new flue lining, sealing said flue lining to chase, then installing the new damper and of course toping it all off with a spark arrester.
10) What do you do in the Summer?
